Aesthetic and Educational Philosophies

Multi-Arts Programs
intends to empower children through the creation of artwork in a collaborative environment leading to an increased self-esteem and a sense of personal agency/effectiveness with a diverse peer group. To achieve this end, we have three major educational objectives:

  • To foster, develop, and unleash the artistic talent and creativity of the children.
  • To expose the children to a variety of artistic disciplines, and provide valuable opportunities to practice them with internationally renowned artist/teachers.
  • To instill the discipline and self-respect a successful artist needs by providing consistent and positive feedback, achievable goals, and presentation of their work to the community.

We seek the best possible teacher/artists for our students, and encourage the commitment from the student to achieve their best in an effort to insure an exceptional level of artistic merit.  Our program provides “connective tissue” for the students to understand that their successful lessons in collaboration with their peers can be brought to bear in the challenging world that they face in their developing years, fostering engaged, creative young minds that are empowered to have positive agency in their youth communities. Multi-Arts cultivates an environment of listening and respect. In addition, we seek to develop the student’s sense of self-respect, enabling them to appreciate their abilities, imaginations and dreams.

The curriculum and instruction at Multi-Arts Summer Program is closely linked to the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum in use at public schools. We approach the artistic work as a learning process with rich and rigorous exposure to accomplished artists and exploration of the children’s own creativity and individual skills. The students will observe experience that using the arts to express their inner world is a powerful tool with which to grow, enrich themselves and share their cultural heritage with those in their communities
