First two days at the Multi-Arts Spring Camp 2016
A wonderful first day at Multi-arts!
Group 1 (3-4 y.o.) spent their morning in art class starting their “ Birds” where they take sticks from outside and with the help of their teacher and counselors, attach them to small wooden basses. They went outside for both snack and lunch and had a nature walk with Shiko, Lexi, and Alex. They made cardboard baskets and put everything they found beautiful or intriguing in the baskets they made.
Group 2 (5-8 y.o.) had a wonderful time playing games and doing crafts with Josh. They made small pipe-cleaner dolls with small accessories, which the group decided was the up most importance. Later they gathered up and went outside to have snack. During art they made cardboard birds that they will attach to small wooden planks and paint later through out the week. Later in theater they created their own stories to be developed in the next coming days to make their own theater production.
Group 3 (9 - 12 y.o) played theater games in the morning and shared a little information about where they were from and things such as their favorite colors and foods. During theater they made their own stories which they will develop into an original play. Later in art they made cardboard 3-d animals of their choice, which they will paint in the on coming days!
In the afternoon they took a nature walk with their counselor Tana, where they partnered up; one of the partners is blind and the other leads the blind to different products of nature, and they have to guess what it is. They wrote in their journals after and dictated the experiences they had during their nature walk with their partner.

The Second day of Multi-arts moved way too fast!
Most of us finished up our birds in art class. We mounted and painted them; some of us added feathers and paper eyes! We also painted the sticks they were sitting on as well.
In theater we finished the stories we made up by ourselves and after practicing them, we performed them in front of our classmates. Some kids had so many ideas they had to make more than one story!
During our break we ate our food and shared funny stories and scary stories. After a nice lunch and break we went back inside to join the class of black light. In black light we got to play with different colored and patterned fabrics, string’s , toys, cups, hula-hoops, feathers, cardboard props and gloves that all glowed in the dark!
In writing some of the older kids wrote beautiful descriptions of people they admire and/ or love with words charged with deep emotion.
