The first performance was put on today by group 3. They performed their song they had been working on for their music portion. They did Katy Perry’s Roar, a capella style. The other groups watched respectfully and the performance was really good! Everybody sang really well and even carried their own parts of the song, such as the harmony and the percussion. Then the other groups branched off into their own rehearsals afterwards.

Group one was rehearsing their little musical number. It looks like it’s shaping up nicely for the show! They followed that up with some art and dress-up time.

Group 2 worked on their song that they will perform. Then, they worked on their play and made sure that everything looked good- people had their costumes, the lines were down, the songs memorized.

Between classes, the kids mingled and talked amongst themselves, playing little games and connecting with other children. It’s hard to believe that the two weeks are almost up! The days have gone by very quickly!

The break for lunch and recess was good. The kids always love getting to spend some of their energy outdoors, playing on the playground and enjoying the fresh air, even if it is quite hot. But don’t worry, everyone is managing to stay hydrated and cool and taken care of.

After recess, everybody got back to work and fun. Group 3 kept working on their fashion and making clothes, as well as other accessories. The dancing got underway- the kids were continuing to rehearse their dance routines and everything. And writing and crafts finished up the day.

Today, it was apparent (as it has been everyday of this camp) of this program serving as a time and place for kids to let their creativity flow and where they can delve into making, creating and performing art- and whatever pleases them. Alongside the instructional guidance of the teachers, interns and CIT’s, the kids can do whatever pleases them- they can make whatever they want and however they want to.

Tomorrow, the fashion show is ready and happening, so come on out to see what everybody has been busy making and enjoy! It’ll be quite a show!
